Creating a new order

Before you begin

You can create orders from the Virtual Terminal in the Dashboard or the Point of Sale app.

Before you can create orders, you need to do the following:

Step 1: Turn off dining options

  1. Sign in to the Dashboard and go to Items & orders (or Items & menus or Items & inventory) > Items.

  2. Click Settings > Dining options.

  3. Toggle OFF all your dining options.

Step 2: Create orders

From the Point of Sale app

From the POS app with full service, quick service, or bar mode enabled or from the Restaurants POS app:

To add menu items to an order from the Restaurants POS app:

  1. Tap New Sale and start adding menu items to the bill.
  2. Tap Checkout to start the payment process.

To create an order from your floor plan:

  1. From the floor plan view, tap the desired table.
  2. Choose the number of covers seated at the table.
  3. Take your guests orders and start adding menu items to the bill.

 

From the POS app with retail mode enabled or from the Retail POS app:

  1. From your point of sale app, go to Checkout.
  2. Tap Add customer to add an existing or new customer.
  3. Add items to cart, then tap Check out.
  4. Tap (•••), then select the fulfillment method: In store or Pickup.
  5. Tap Save.
  6. For each fulfillment method:
    • In store: No further details needed.
    • Pickup: Tap Add pickup details to add a new or existing customer and pickup details (pickup time, location, and an optional pickup note).

To edit, tap (•••) again to Edit pickup detailsChange fulfillment location, or Edit fulfillment method.

From the POS app with standard mode enabled or from the POS app:

  1. Go to Checkout.
  2. Add items to the current sale.
  3. Tap Review sale > Schedule.
  4. Add an existing customer to the sale or tap Add Customer to create a new customer.
  5. Select an order type (Pickup or Curbside). Tap Next.
  6. Select a Pickup location and time.
  7. Tap Done.
  8. Tap Charge to continue the checkout flow

 

From the Dashboard

From your Dashboard, you can manually create a pickup order using Virtual Terminal.

  1. Sign in to the Dashboard and go to Orders & payments (or Invoices & payments or Payments) > Orders > All orders.
  2. Click Create Order.
  3. Click Quick charge or Itemized sale and add transaction details.
  4. Add the relevant payment details.
  5. Click + Add a customer to select an existing customer or Create customer.
  6. Under Fulfillment details, select Add pickup.
  7. Enter the pickup details, including the order name and the pickup date and time.
  8. Review the order details, then click Create order.
